Product information "South Tyrol Volume 1: Ski Touring Guide - Ski Touring Atlas - Val Pusteria & Northern Dolomites"

The Dolomites - a landscape of superlatives. Our area guides for South Tyrol show the whole variety of the region for ski tourers. Racy cirques, narrow gullies through steep rock faces, but equally extensive terrain and gentle meadow slopes - and all this always in the midst of magnificent surroundings.

In January 2020 we start with the South Tyrol Band 1 - Pustertal and Northern Dolomites. Jan Piepenstock, Peter Raffin and Florian Wenter give a comprehensive insight - 165 ski tours plus numerous variations! - into the available tour possibilities. The authors focus especially on easy and medium-difficulty ski tours. Extreme tours, which are reserved for specialists (e.g. Hochgall, Cristallino-Scharte, Zwölferrinne, Holzerrinne at the Peitlerkofel and many more) are of course also described. This opens up an almost inexhaustible field of activity for every ski touring fan, whether professional or beginner.

It is ideal that the majority of the tours are started from the valley. This means that there is a wide range of accommodation options to choose from. For stays of several days this means a great comfort plus, especially in winter. In case of bad weather, an alternative program can easily be carried out, or the long winter evenings after the tours can be used to relax and enjoy delicious food and drink.

The first South Tyrol volume also describes in detail the Villgraten mountains and the Defereggen valley in East Tyrol. These offer a large number of relatively avalanche-safe tours and are known as particularly snow-sure. Together with the Terentner Mountains and the Rieserferner Group, the guide thus closes the gap to our volumes for the Tuxer & Zillertal Alps and Hohe Tauern.

The 2nd edition of Südtirol Volume 2 - Dolomites will be published in winter 2020/21. Ivo Rabanser - Dolomite caretaker, mountain guide and author of our climbing guide Best of Dolomites - meticulously describes the routes in the areas of Villnöss, Geisler, Pùez, Sella, Sassolungo, Alpe di Siusi, Rosengarten, Marmolada, San Pellegrino, Pala, Alta Badia, Cortina and of course the Dolomites Haute Route.

Common to both volumes: GPS tracks of all routes can be downloaded from our homepage with a download code enclosed with the book.
