The Blautal is a small but extremely fine sub-area of the Schwäbische Alb, which stands out in many ways from the other rocky areas. First of all, the atmosphere is somehow more relaxed. While looking elsewhere on the Alb, e.g. on the Gelbe Felsen or on the Rutschenfelsen there’s more a feeling for alpine wardrobe, in the Blautal almost something like southern flair appears. From the Café Bof at the Blautopf there are only a few steps to the first rocks, while climbing the Klötzle Blei you can watch the housewives hang their laundry. But you should not, because otherwise you have no chance to hold on to the widely scattered holes and press your feet on the small marble footholds. Which brings us to the second special feature: the rock in Blautal is extremely compact, often requires energetic finger power and a clean foot technique. But the Blautal can also be different: What the Kalymnos pilgrims think is their "Grande Grotta" is the Große Höhle at The Rusenschloss for Blautal freaks. A huge, 25-meter-wide cave roof with quite some extreme power routes, where you quickly learn whether you have done enough for the endurance - if the cave is not closed right on that day. But one way or another: The ice cream at Blautopf tastes good anyway.
